Summary from Barnes and Noble:
Raiko, the demon hunter who has been staying at Misao’s house, is determined to save her–even if that’s the last thing she wants! Kyo won’t allow a threat to Misao to go unchecked and plans to take care of the problem in his own special way. Misao, however, hopes that she can broker a peace between Raiko and Kyo before things get out of hand. But when Raiko’s attempts to “free” Misao fail, he hatches a devious new plan that will use Misao’s bond with Kyo to destroy him!

My Thoughts:
In this volume of Black Bird, Raiko is still around and out to tear Misao away from Kyo. He feels that it is wrong for Misao to be in love with a demon and he wants to protect her. Of course Kyo is a powerful demon and he can protect Misao all on his own. The men agree to meet to have a peaceful meeting about what should be done for Misao’s best interest. Of course if you have read any of the Black Bird Series you know that the men always have to fight over Misao. This volume certainly lives up to that when Misao poisons Kyo from all the water she has had from Raiko’s home land.

With Kyo poisoned it is really up to Kyo’s protectors and Misao to decide what to do. Is there any way to cure Kyo? Well of course there is always one way to get him back to his normal self. The problem is that means he has to sleep with Misao in order to gain enough power from her to be well again. These two characters have fought this for so long because they don’t really know what will happen to Misao if Kyo sleeps with her. Are they finally going to take the risk? Is their love strong enough to get them through?

Overall, I really did enjoy this volume because everything has finally come to a peak and must be resolved. For 8 volumes the idea of what will happen if they sleep together has come up. I don’t want to spoil what actually happens at the end of this volume but it is shocking and I can’t wait to read volume number 9! I really felt that I connected with our main characters again in this volume. I had lost touch with them before because the storyline kept feeling the same. I hope now the storyline can move into a new direction and be just as exciting and beautiful as it was in some of the earlier volumes. Of course the artwork has always remained beautiful and I’m excited where the storyline is going.
