12 Shades of Surrender—the darker side of romance.
My Thoughts:
Sigh I’m getting really tired of everything being compared to Fifty Shades of Grey for people to go pick it up. Can we please move past the whole Fifty thing already!!!! He is not even one of my favorite male characters and I feel like every since Fifty became popular that erotic romance took a turn for the worse.
I really never like anthologies because all the stories are just little teases of a real storyline and that was basically what this book was. Many of these big named authors actually disappointed me with their writing. Most of the stories were lacking in the steam department! I don’t get how you release a collection of novellas saying this is 12 shades of surrender and really there wasn’t a whole lot of surrendering. I would have to say the three stories that I enjoyed most from this book were the ones that actually were the type of novellas I was expecting from this novel. I would have to say if you were going to pick three stories to read I would go with Under His Hand by Ann Calhoun, The Envelope Incident by Emelia Elmwood, and Cuffing Kate by Allison Tyler. My favorite was probably Cuffing Kate though because I felt I sort of had a more personal connection with that story which made me like it so much more than the others. I will admit though that I didn’t read the last 2-3 novellas in this novel because I was just so bored out of my mind at that point that I couldn’t keep reading about 12 stories when I was barely enjoying any of them except for the authors and the 3 stories I mentioned.
Overall, I would avoid this one. The only good that came from this was that I found three new authors to check out for some longer erotica stories that actually involve surrender, passion, pain, romance, and intense moments.

I am not a big fan of anthologies either, for the exact same reasons.
I think I will pass on this one!
