My Thoughts

As I continue to read this series things continue to get weird. I am still not sure what exactly is going on but I do now there are a lot of secrets in Shiro and the clones lives. I can feel that these secrets are slowly going to be revealed and one by one they are going to continue to pull apart the strands of these characters lives. Shiro is already confused as to where he belongs in this clone school and the clones themselves are still trying to figure out where they belong in society all together. Both Shiro and the clones are young and confused. Shiro wishes someone would tell him who he is and a handful of clones wish people would stop telling them who they are. They already know who’s clone they are, who they are supposed to be, but some still have a hard time coming to terms with it.

In this Volume Joan is still hoping to change her fate but with that comes a risk she is all too willing to take. Like all the other volumes Shiro plays a big role but there is still a focus on specific clones. In this one Napoleon is focused on. He wants to help Joan with her mission.  All the other clones mentioned before are still present and they have one big surprise coming for them at their big expo. In volume three I got to see more/different sides to people and it wasn’t all good. This series continues to be strange to me at times but it is all part of what is going on (and is  going to happen). It continues to hold my interest though and I am looking forward to see what will happen in the future.

My Thoughts

Wow. So volume 3 ended with a lot of craziness at the end and you know those creepy Almighty Dolly stuffed toy sheep I mentioned in previous reviews (maybe not lol)? Still creepy but they did serve a purpose I wasn’t aware of. Shiro and the clones lives are beginning to come apart just like i said they would and things are getting pretty interesting. Those secrets I said would come out slowly are making there way out but a lot is still unanswered and I have a feeling it is going to take a long time to really figure everything out.  This volume had action and moments to really think about. It was also pretty sad. Nightingale took everything pretty hard in this volume and I can understand why. I think she really showed how much she cares about things and I felt bad for her. If anything Shiro and the Clones are more confused then ever.

I can’t say much about this one except that it goes back to the past. Way before all the craziness in the last two volumes. Back to when Shiro was just a baby. This volume gives some important back story and things continue to get confusing and make sense all at the same time. It was interesting and enlightening to read.

My Thoughts:

Holy Hell Batman…. I thoroughly enjoyed this book immensely. Such emotion, so much humor, and tons of hot sex, kinky sex, slow and easy sex, and even some “back door” play!!!  So much going on with this story… some darker issues, some parental issues, and of course the occasional dumbass groupie!!!  Although this book is exclusively about “Master” Sinclair and Myr, you learn a lot of surface bits and pieces about the additional characters that I’m guessing have books of their own in this series eventually.  Without a doubt not a light-hearted tale!!

Brian “Master” Sinclair is one hot piece of ace, guitar hero, rock god, perfect specimen of a man!!!  Cracked me up right away in the beginning when he was drunk in the hotel lounge!!  “That sucking flut!” LOL… So glad to see that he was such a lover as oppose to a stuck up, jackass musician!  Kind of like some of his band mates… <>!!  It was nice to see the genuineness in his voice and action.. a total “Romantic Retard!”  I would totally go to Vegas with him!!! Myrna on the other hand… I liked her (not loved) but she did crack me up a few times, not as much as she pissed me off. I couldn’t believe how forward she was right from the start usually you don’t see that in your girl characters it was nice and after all she does have a PhD in Cock-tease-ology, an honorary one at that!!!  She’s a certified grade A Sex Professor!!  It pained me to watch these two want something out of a relationship that the other didn’t, broke my heart!  I hope someday I can hear the music too!!  Great supporting characters… Love love loved Eric Sticks, Sedric Lionheart “Sed,” Jace Seymour, and Trey Mills!!  I can’t wait to read the books attached to these hot babes!!!

This book is 384 kindle pages long and took me about 1.5 days to read… I’d say that’s pretty effortless wouldn’t you?  It’s very meticulous but still flows very nicely.  The bulk of the book surrounds Brian and Myrna’s relationship or lack there of and believe me you… there’s tons… I mean heaps… no…loads of sex… good old fashion sex, kinky sex, and lots of experimental stuff… My panties were moist the entire time I was reading this!!!  Wowza!!!!  I love the riffs on skin!!  I haven’t seen this much sex in a book since Reflected In You by Sylvia Day!!

I honestly don’t think there’s really any highs and low throughout the book until of course you get to the last 1/4 of it and wow… suspense and action take over where hot and sexy left off… but only for a moment!!  It was a nice twist and a great (sort of) climax…

My Thoughts:

I know that everyone has raved about this series for years, people can’t wait for the newest books to release and there is huge hype surrounding this famous Immortals After Dark Series. Kresley Cole is probably considered a Goddess by many in the adult romance book world. I can certainly see why people fall for her books. Cole has amazing writing skills since she can build a very unique and adventurous world all in the course of one book. She does have some great character building skills as well, who wouldn’t want to fall for all of these sexy immortal beings. Yet, even though I do praise Cole for many things in this book, there was just something missing for me.

When I first started reading I was taken with this world! I loved how dark this world could be and how as a reader I had yet to learn who was who. So I was really excited to spend the next part of the book figuring out who everyone was and what the backstories were. I mean when you jump into a world this big there is a learning curve to be had. This learning curve is a fun journey but it does always kill the full effect of the first book in a series. Due to the fact that there was so much EPIC world building to explain the main characters in this story paid the price. I could not connect with Emmaline and Lachlain for the life of me. I loved all of the support cast of characters such as Lachlain’s close friend and younger brother. Heck I even connected with Myst’s new husband that shows up at the very end of the book. I think when you are connecting with the secondary/minor characters more than the main couple there is certainly a problem there.

I feel like this story has great potential, it has set up a fantastic world that I’m very interested in. I love the mix of all the immortal characters who are running around Cole’s world. Cole gets props practically the entire book except the fact that I didn’t like the main character. Now I’m hoping that with the next book in the series being about a different main couple that I will have a better chance of connecting with a new main couple. I think sometimes in a series this large certain couple pairings are going to be a hit and certain ones are going to be a miss. I have to say Emmaline and Lachlain were a miss for me but I’m going to have to keep reading this series because I loved everything else about this book.

Overall, when you read the story for the subplots and the world building over the main character developments there is slightly something wrong with that. I’m a very character driven person so the fact that I was able to connect with this book even when I didn’t like the main characters was a huge deal to me. It means Cole’s world was just too amazing to leave behind. So as I’ve already stated I will continue on with this series in the hopes that the main couples of the next few books leave me with a better connection.

I know I do not participate regularly anymore but I honestly need to get back into this and go an have a listen to what everyone else has shared as well. I always get to hear new things when checking out everyone’s Tune In Tuesday posts so I’m not sure why I’ve been so bad at it lately. Going to have to fix that. Anyways, here are my picks for the week. Avenged Sevenfold isn’t new to me but I have been listening to them the most lately. Just a few days ago I would tell you I have no idea who Fist To The Sky or Cartographer are but when artists follow me on twitter I try and make it a point to check out their music. My Thoughts:

Lately I keep pushing adult books to the side for teen stories because I just can’t seem to find an adult romance that will blow me away. I find that the genre is slowly becoming one I’m starting to regret reading. The sex in these type of books use to be amazing, sensual, and erotic to read about but it seems authors lately are toning down these books. Making the sex scenes very dull or repetitive. I’m happy to say that while this book did struggle in certain areas that the sexual scenes felt pretty real and not over the top. They seemed pretty perfect for this contemporary book.

I have to say that when the book started I really wanted to like Catherine, she was suffering from a loss in her life and I wanted what was best for her. I wanted her to step up to be a strong woman who could handle her fears and her past. I know how hard it is to handle past mistakes or wish so much that you could change the past so I was right there on that emotional level with her, at least in the beginning. I also did like William from the beginning because I knew he was going to be one of those control freaks who knew what he wanted and was going to try to fight for it.

As the story went on I have to say that Cat and Will did get on my nerves just a little. During their relationship there were so many ups and downs that it started to make my head spin. It seemed every time that Will did something Cat wanted to second guess she would get all freaked out about it and throw a hissy fit. I can see getting upset at a few of the things he did but you can’t throw a fit over every little drop of water that was spilled from the glass. Some of the little things were things that Cat should have let go. Choose your battles, fight for the important things, not the petty things.

Overall, I did like this story at times because Cat and Will could be great together whenever they were in the middle of one of those juicy sex scenes. I just wish they were able to work better together outside of the bedroom.

Some of you might have noticed that I haven’t been commenting on blogs lately and I seem to be missing around here.

This is due to the fact that I had finals at school just last week and so I was studying like a crazy person for the many finals I had. On top of that I’m in a medical program (I’m sure if you read the blog regularly you already know this) and we just started our clinical hours this week. Meaning on top of my online and in person class times I have to go do 40+ hours a week at a hospital to gain clinical experience in my medical field. This means most days I come home, make dinner, do homework, talk to Johnny, then go to bed. Rinse, Wash, and Repeat.

I have only managed to finish one or maybe two books in the last 3+ weeks so please just try to stick around if you can so that I can get things back to where they need to be. I’m trying to figure out how to get blogging done with my busy school schedule so now I think I have it figured out so hopefully you will all see my face around more.

Currently Reading:

I’m almost done with this one. I have to say this has had a lot of ups and downs for me. I like the vibe they have as a couple and the sexual scenes are real to life but I don’t like how the characters go back and forth so much.

This is a really great fantasy book that I’m really enjoying so far. I can’t wait to see where it is going to go because so many people rave about this series. It has been a long time since I have found a fantasy this great in the teen book world.

 I’m still reading this one from when it was released. I keep putting it down because there is just so much going on in this book that I don’t really care about. Normally I love watching all of the multiple storylines going on at the same time in this series but I was really hoping for more time with Qhuinn and Blay and their time together so far has been very limited. I’m about half way though this one and I just wish there was more time with them since they are suppose to be the main couple.

Up Next:

I can’t wait to dive into this one since I really liked the first book a lot more than I thought I was going to.

My Thoughts

If you got the chance to read my review of Dark Lover last week you already know how much I loved it. After finishing the first book in the series I couldn’t wait to dive in to this one. I must say that I loved this one just as much as the first and I can’t get enough of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. I will admit that I am obsessed. Even with everything that is going on in the book and all the point of views and stories everything still managed to get all tied together nicely. I don’t know how J.R. Ward does it but in both Dark Lover and Lover Eternal there are so many characters, she keeps the old and throws in some new characters, and the story is told from multiple points of views yet it doesn’t annoy me, I don’t get confused, and I just love it all.

“Fortunately for Rhage, there was an endless stream of women more than happy to oblige his needs. And sweet Jesus, the guy had them. Didn’t drink. Didn’t smoke. But he ran through the ladies like nothing Butch had ever seen.”

From the start of page one I was excited and happy to be reading. Where most of th focus was put on Wrath and Beth in Dark Lover this is Rhage’s story. Rhage constantly needs some sort of release. Whether he gets it through a fight or through sex he has to have it or things can get bad rather quickly. Fortunately for him he is part of the Brotherhood so fights are inevitable and no girl would ever say no to him. Unfortunately, Rhage really wants more. He wished he knew what it would feel like to settle down with a women worthy enough and I felt bad for him. Everyone just assumed he loved the lifestyle he had to live. No one stopped to think that maybe he really hated it.

“She wasn’t anything like the females he went for. And she held his attention like a marching band.”

Then he meets Mary and his release issues become even more of a problem. From the first moment he met her he wanted her. For some one look is all they need but its Mary’s voice that catches his attention. He can’t get enough of it and he decides he has to know her.  Even when forbidden to do just that he doesn’t back off and continues to push forward.

“He closed his eyes. God, he’d give anything just to hear her say his real name once. And he wanted…damn, he wanted her naked in his bed, her head on his pillow, her body between his sheets.”

Mary is human and has no idea what Rhage or the other brother are. Rhage is supposed to stay away from her for this specific reason. Mary doesn’t welcome his advances with open arms and actually tries quite hard to push Rhage away which some would think would make it easier for him to follow his orders but he was no quitter.

Mary has a weight on her shoulders that she isn’t able to get rid of and she is accustomed to dealing with it on her own. She doesn’t let people close and she can’t fathom why someone like Rhage would even want to try and get close. She is definitely attracted to him but she believes she is just an average women, nothing very special, that comes with a burden. She doesn’t deserve his attention yet he keeps coming around just confusing her further.

Both Rhage and Mary had things to deal with that they thought would scare the other away. Mary sometimes wanted to be closed off completely but Rhage kept trying to get closer. But as Mary began to let down her guard a little Rhage’s walls went up and Mary would retreat again. This infuriated me at times and made me feel really bad for the both of them. They both were really great and caring people that owed it to themselves to let someone else in yet they just didn’t seem to know how.

Overall, great second book to the series. It was everything I hoped it would be. I still love the brothers, the lessers and Omega are still as creepy as always (more intriguing as well though), and all the little parts of other characters stories leave me wanting more. I just love how all the characters seem to have so much going on in their pasts and in their heads and I just want to know everyone’s story. The end of Lover Eternal has me going AHHH I need the next one!

Sweat beaded on Devon’s temple, and she wiped it off her forehead and out of her eyes.  The party had been going all night, and it was nice to loosen up and get lost in the music and dancing.  She hadn’t partied in so long, and she couldn’t resist when Amy had actually invited her out.  Either she was getting over her hatred for the new girl, or Devon had just been there long enough that she wasn’t considered the new girl any longer.

People were packed into the club shoulder to shoulder, many even closer than that.  The music was ear-splittingly loud.  Crazy lights traversed the warehouse-sized room, and they alternated to strobes slowing everything down to slow motion.  She hadn’t had much to drink, but she was dizzy with dehydration and the energy in the room.  Her tank top was sticking to her back, and she had long since pulled her hair up off of her neck into a ponytail.

God, I need another drink, she thought.

Her eyes moved around the room taking in as much as she could from her vantage point.  It really only ended up being the two feet encircling her.  Amy had to be somewhere inside the building.  How had she lost track of her?

Well, she knew how.  There were too many damn people in the place.  It was easy to lose track of one person, especially when that person was as short as Amy.  Still, she should have done better. She didn’t like being alone in dark places.  Whether she was surrounded by people or in a back alleyway at night, she was still alone.

She craned her head to look for her, but was having no luck.  It felt like more and more people were being crushed into the space.  How was this in line with fire code?  Surely the place would be shut down soon.

Walking in the direction of the bar, Devon tried to find Amy in the crowd.  Seriously it was getting harder and harder to maneuver through.  She was literally having to elbow people out of the way. This wasn’t okay, and it wasn’t fun.  They shouldn’t let any more people in.  Things could get out of control.

Devon looked up over the heads of people in front of her and sighed.  It felt like she was never going to reach the bar, and there was a huge line anyway.  She thought maybe the bathroom would be a better alternative…at least there she would have some privacy.

My Thoughts:

The book started off really well, I instantly fell in love with the innovative plot and concept. The characters are an absolute delight to know and the writing is flawless.

Here’s a glimpse of the writing.

 “The relentless pull of love is a thousand times harder to fight than the tides. If you’re lucky, you’ll make it out before you drown. If you’re even luckier, you’re pulled under just long enough to wash away the sorrow. If you’re really lucky, like me, you resurface just in time to find the one you love floating right beside you.” 

“That time of day when the sun hasn’t come up yet, but you can already feel it coming. It’s an elusive warmth, like a subtle promise whispered in your ear and you can go on with your day knowing you’ve been given another chance to get it right.”

“With every choice you risk the life you could have had. With every decision you lose it.” 

“I want to leave you dazed and confused for a week with nothing but my name on your lips.” 

I loved the friendly banter between the characters, so college-y and fun. And the chemistry between the characters is not sizzling but of a more intimate and relaxed nature which is so refreshing.

Yes, once again the ‘you find my secret, I will undo yours’ -cliche’d new adult plot is there but it has more to it, of which I’m glad.

Claire and Adam look made for each other until steps in Chris and although he is supposed to be the anti-hero, I’m all for him. *swoon*

And yes, the secret, once it surfaces, is huge and it is what makes this book pave a way for more in the series.

Despite the over-used new adult concept, I felt this book was different in its treatment and writing style. I look forward to reading the next in the series. I’m just in time because the sequel is now available.
